Apple Intelligence and Siri

Apple quietly became a local-search platform. In April 2026, Apple merged Business Connect, Essentials, and Manager into one free dashboard. Apple Intelligence now uses Business Connect data as a ground-truth source when Siri answers questions like "find a plumber near me who's open now."

Why Apple Business Connect matters

When a customer asks Siri or types into Spotlight, Apple doesn't crawl your website first. It reads the business profile you (or nobody) maintain in Apple Business Connect. That data flows to Apple Maps, Siri, Messages, Wallet, Safari, and every app built on Apple MapKit.

Most local businesses obsess over Google Business Profile and ignore Apple. That's an opening. Apple Business Connect is still relatively unclaimed in many markets, which means less competition for visibility.

How Apple Intelligence uses Business Connect

Apple Intelligence answers attribute-level questions using Business Connect data. When a customer asks:

  • "Is this restaurant open now?", Apple checks your hours in Business Connect
  • "Does this salon take walk-ins?", Apple checks your attributes and services
  • "What's the parking situation?", Apple checks your amenities and attributes
  • "Can I make a reservation?", Apple checks if you accept reservations

A complete Business Connect profile with detailed attributes and services makes your business more visible and useful in Apple's ecosystem.

Setting up Apple Business Connect

Step 1: Claim your business

  1. Go to Apple Business Connect (businessconnect.apple.com)
  2. Search for your business
  3. Click "Claim this business"
  4. Verify your business (Apple will send a verification code via mail or phone)
  5. Complete the verification process

Step 2: Complete every field

Once verified, fill out all available fields:

Basic information:

  • Business name (must match Google Business Profile)
  • Address (must match Google Business Profile)
  • Phone number (must match Google Business Profile)
  • Website URL
  • Business hours (including holidays)

Services and attributes:

  • Service categories (e.g., "Haircut," "Color," "Extensions")
  • Amenities (e.g., "Parking," "WiFi," "Wheelchair accessible")
  • Payment methods accepted
  • Languages spoken
  • Special services (e.g., "Online booking," "Curbside pickup")

Content:

  • Business description (2-3 sentences)
  • High-quality photos (at least 5-10)
  • Videos (if available)
  • Links to your website and social media

Verification:

  • Ensure your NAP (Name, Address, Phone) matches Google Business Profile exactly
  • Double-check all hours and services
  • Verify all photos are high quality and recent

Step 3: Monitor and maintain

Once your profile is live:

  1. Check the Insights panel monthly to see how often you appeared as a Siri suggestion
  2. Update your hours when they change (especially for holidays)
  3. Add new photos regularly to keep your profile fresh
  4. Respond to customer feedback if Apple surfaces it
  5. Keep your information current, outdated information hurts visibility

What happens if you skip it

Siri recommends a competitor whose profile exists. Apple Maps Ads launched in summer 2026, which means Apple surfaces are about to get more competitive, not less. Claiming your listing now, before the market gets crowded, is a high-leverage move.
